My daughter, Maya, like all human beings, has experienced loss in her life. She wrote this last month and I think it is a beautiful way to express hope in the midst of loss. Lauren was a best friend who was murdered and Stella was a favorite horse who died on Christmas Eve last year. If you know Maya, or feel as if you do from reading my blog, I hope you find this as lovely as I do.
Once there was a princess in a tower. But alas, she was locked in that tower ever since she was 9. Now she is 23 and when she is 24 she will become a Queen and will be released into the world out of that tower. Her name was Lauren. She had a pony named Stella. She was gaurded by a dragon named Trever. Trever was very firce. But only to the royal family shall he be kind to. Stella was very gentle but very brave. Together they were amazing. On Lauren’s 24th Birthday, she woke up at 7:00 a.m. instead of 11:00 a.m. because she had a party at 9:00 a.m. She needed to get on her pink dress and she could not go without her makeup! She was so ready to get her new tiara! Her prinsess tiara was all worn out. She had it ever since she was born. She rode Stella through the cassle as Trever watched through the window because he was to big to fit inside. One of her presents was shaped like a pet cage. Lauren feverishly opened that one. Suddenly, a tan and brown ferrit jumped right out onto Lauren’s lap! She hugged the ferrit and said, “I will name you Panda!” Tears came to her eyes as she said “Thank you!” The next one was from the prince she was going to mary. His name was Goden. When she opened it her mouth dropped. It was the thing she always wanted! 1,000 bugs in a huge jar! She wanted a bug house filled with bugs. The next time she knew what it was. It was the tiara! Big and beutiful, it shined with dangling gems. She put it on. “Two more presents dear.” Lauren turned. It was her Mom. “Mom!” Said Lauren “I haven’t seen you in 19 years!” Lauren squezed her Mom. “This is your casle now.” The next present was shaped just like a ferit cage and a cat cage! So Lauren opened the other one. “Meow!” Lauren jumped. ” A cat!” Said Lauren more tears streaming from her eyes than ever. Lauren opened it. And sure enough a Siamese kitten slowly crawled out. It was too young to leave its mother so the mother came with the young kitten. “Two!” said Lauren. Lauren said “The mother’s name is Ming and the kitten’s is Paws. Lauren laughed. “Meow Merowww” said Ming. “Wow! They both have talents! Let’s name her Ming Ming from her talent! said Lauren. Again Paws lifted her paws. “Oh, Paws!” They all said. Ming said, “Meow Meroww!” And they all lived…………….HAPPLIE EVER AFTER! (See book 2: More talents found)
